Global Teen Summit

CWA'S FIFTH GLOBAL TEEN SUMMIT: Delegations of students and teachers from the U.A.E., Poland, China and Colombia are stay with host families and participatE in a five-day conference with Charles Wright students. The focus of the Summit is the ways in which students can individually and collectively address world problems.

Charles Wright Academy is pleased to welcome students from the UAE, Colombia, Poland and China to the Global Teen Summit!
After Peter Drury from the nonprofit A Child's Right spoke to Upper School students, Global Teen Summit participants from Colombia, China, Poland and the UAE created representations of their "universe of obligation."
Eleventh graders and Global Teen Summit participants are listening to Nathan Maas from Theo Chocolate talk about the origins of chocolate, fair trade, his experiences living on a cocoa bean farm, and his company's mission. He also showed the chocolate bar created last year after the Global Summit introduced Theo to World Bicycle Relief.
Global Summit participants re-lend money to borrowers throughout the world via Kiva. This group chose to lend $25 to a woman in Nicaragua so she can complete her college degree and $25 to a family in Bolivia so they can complete construction of their home.
Carl Wilkens talked this morning to all first year Upper School students and Global Summit participants about his experience as the only American who stayed in Rwanda during the genocide in 1994, saving the lives of thousands of people because of the relationships he built with other people.
